Universally and flexible

FasTrans applications range from simple microplate pipetting to complete production of a PCR batch. FasTrans not only fully automates washing routines and pipetting processes for sample dilutions, it can also perform reagent, sample and mother-daughter plate transfers and can handle all 96, 384 and even 1536 plate formats.

The different available multi-channel heads can be mounted at either 0 or 90 degree angles. As a result, FasTrans is suitable for a multitude of general pipetting tasks when preparing small to medium sized samples. Its versatility also makes it excellent for use as a low-density arrayer.

Easiest possible PCR batch preparation

FasTrans was especially designed for automated preparation of PCR plates, and serves as an easy and reliable method for rapid production of PCR batches in standard PCR plates/tubes and in “SpeedCycler” 36 and 96 well microplates LP.The risk of cross-contamination can be reduced further through the use of sealing foils that can be pierced. The option of adjusting the dosing speed, also makes it possible to process viscous media with-out difficulty. In addition, nine user-defined positions in a 96 well MTP standard-format enhance the flexibility of FasTrans.

Alternative use as a microarrayer

FasTrans is a compact tabletop device that can also be used as a microarrayer in biochip research and development. The user-defined spot layout allows the device to handle biochips of various sizes, which, in turn, makes it possible to program dots as small as 0.5 µL and to dispense onto a biochip in predefined shapes.

 

Software with intuitive operating concept

TThe software is impressive by virtue of its intuitive graphic user interface, making it safe and easy to use. Selecting pipetting parameters is extraordinarily easy and always ensures lawless pipetting results.

 

Available pipetting heads

For the FasTrans a number of pipetting heads are available. Those are exchangeable in a simple way without any tool. You may choose between 1, 3, 4 and 6 channel heads for
0.5 – 30 μl or 5 – 250 μl pipetting volume. Multi channel heads can be mounted either at orientation of 0° or 90°.

     

 

Automated pipetting routines: simple and fast

The use of the GeneTheatre greatly simplifies all pending pipetting and dispensing tasks in laboratory and allows for full automation.

In addition to microplate handling, this highly flexible workstation also accommodates the use of strips, single vessels and glass slides. Users may choose from any of 12 desk positions in the standard-format 96 well SBS, making it easy to adjust the system to any conceivable application.

The GeneTheatre is also perfectly suited for the use of thermal mixers, heating or cooling plates, and vacuum stations. A logical cable layout and RS232/USB port makes it possible to equip the system with external devices, such as the BioShake 3000 series, at any time. In addition, the GeneTheatre can also be adapted to specific applications. Single and multiple channel heads with 8 channels are available. A simple mechanism allows users to change heads with only one hand – an effortless process requiring no technical expertise.

Highly precise, fully variable workstation

Thanks to its various pipetting heads and tips, the volume capacity of the GeneTheatre ranges from 0.5 to 1000 µL. Pipetting results – even for complex liquid handling tasks – are highly consistent and precise. Users may also integrate new plastic products into the software in only a few steps, with the calibration wizard and modern servomotors simplifying the learning process of the robot and omitting the time-consuming process of entering coordinates. A large range of different adapters and passive cooling blocks makes it possible to position the necessary consumables directly on the working desk of the device. The closed housing and two-piece, front sliding door all but eliminates potential contamination. In the event that contamination does arise, however, the integrated UV lamp allows users to decontaminate the unit quickly and easily.

Different applications require different numbers of tips, which is why the GeneTheatre has an intelligent waste box system that allows the user to choose whether used tips are discarded into a box on the work desk or into a box to the right or left of the housing. This gives users the option of using up to minimum 600 tips (1000 µL) in a run with no difficulty.

Intuitive and clear software concept

The GeneTheatre operating system uses a clearly structured, easy-to-learn user interface. Predefined pipetting and dispensing parameters allow users to set up different liquid handling routines quickly. For more complicated runs, users may also adjust a number of different influencing factors such as velocity, correction capacity, and approach height. Saved procedures can always be used again and be adjusted to different sample throughput rates.

The aspiration and dispensing of liquids, the constant raising and lowering of the thumb all day long may result in aching, or the inflammation of tendons and joints.

The SELMA 96 is a semi-automatic pipetting instrument, which fills 96 wells in one step, which avoids these aches in your arms. The automatic tightening of the tips avoids the stressful and cumbrous loading of tips. The tips are delivered tailored, thus they are ready to use. The time-consuming assembly of the tips will be a thing of the past.

A special feature: The manual control of the correct fit of each single tip is not necessary anymore due to the automatic tightening of the tips and the tip sealing technology, proofed in high throughput. The tips can be changed effortless in a few seconds and the SELMA 96 is now ready for the next application.
There are two working positions for microplates and reservoirs, which are easy to load. Thus, you can avoid permanent movements of filled reservoirs and microplates.

The SELMA 96 works like an electronic manual pipette, and you can handle it easily with a touch screen. The different pipetting modes demand the input of the desired volume only. Then, the SELMA 96 can be started directly without time-consuming teaching. It is a pipetting instrument for everyone.

 

Always reproducible and comparable results

The 96 channels of the SELMA 96 provide a save and accurate transfer of 96 samples in one step. Mixing up samples or neglecting single wells will belong to the past. The high quality tips and the tip sealing technology are tested in high throughput for many years. Hence, they provide precise and reproducible results. Thereby, the tips are sealed perfectly and constantly by a silicone mat. The accurate and similar movements of the pistons ensure reproducible and precise results without differences in the pipetting performance.

Furthermore, there are two instrument types (maximal volume of 25 µl or 250 µl) for the corresponding volume range. Due to the compact design the SELMA 96 can be used in a laminar flow to achieve perfect results.

 

More flexibility

The possibility to combine the SELMA 96 with different accessories like reservoirs, trays for several tasks and various TipTrays ensures a fast execution of different applications.
These accessories can be easily changed and cleaned to continue the work quickly. Already existing accessories like heating and cooling adapters, shakers and vacuum chambers can be used with the system, too. Special adjusting aids afford a correct positioning of these instruments.

Different TipTrays and trays enable to execute applications in a complete 96- and 384 well microplate format as well as in single columns of a microplate. Thus, you cannot only carry out serial dilutions quickly but also replicate or reformat microplates and fill microplates with buffers as well as exchange media.

The SELMA 96 features the possibility to adapt the pipetting speed on appropriate conditions to meet the requirements of different liquids.
